Our
Mission
The
Institute for Criminal Justice Healthcare serves to integrate public
health and the Criminal Justice System through education, research, technology
and dialogue.
ICJH
advances and promotes the importance of total health and disease prevention
in the criminal justice population for offenders.
Offenders are a part of our community and promoting prevention efforts
to this population provides protection to all of our communities.
ICJH
defines total health as:
"the
physical, mental and social well-being of humanity"
Our
Purpose

To integrate
public health and justice systems for the protection of our communities.

To advance
and promote the importance of total care and prevention in the criminal
justice population for offenders.

To promote
education of the criminal justice practitioner and the health authority
addressing total healthcare of offenders.

To develop
strategic plans to provide the criminal justice field with necessary research
and evaluation tools to access and enhance effective prevention, intervention
and treatment programs for the offender population.

To explore
new technologies, standards and development of best /exemplary practices
for criminal justice research and evaluation.

ICJH works
to enhance and promote bridge-building among the criminal justice system,
law, science, public health and the community.

input for effective legislation which positively impacts on healthcare
